Fall Rush Events

Now that Fall Rush is upon us, we have three events coming up this week.

Tuesday 6-8pm: Buffalo Wild Wings in Havens Lounge
Thursday 6-8pm: Chill n’ Grill at the grill over by the volleyball court next to Sage
Friday 6-8pm: Sticky Lips in the Flag Lounge

So stop by, get some food, and meet the brothers.

Open Rush Events This Week

 Tuesday, Sept. 6, enjoy Little Venice Pizza on the Sigma Nu floor (Wilder 5) from 6–8 p.m.;

Thursday, Sept. 8, Sticky Lips BBQ will be served from 6–8 p.m. in Hirst Lounge, Wilson Commons;

Friday, Sept. 9, a Chill and Grill event will be held from 5–7 p.m. at the Towers Quad.

Congratulations Gamma Beta!!

Gamma Beta Pledge Class

The Lambda Eta Chapter would like to congratulate the newly pinned members of the Gamma Beta Pledge Class.  Best of luck to Vinny DeRienzo, Kevin Lin, Nick Scangas, and Roy Zhou as they embark on the pledge process.


Mu Zeta Recolonization

The brothers of Lambda Eta joined the new candidates of the Mu Zeta Chapter at RIT for the annual charity Mud Tug.  Lambda Eta will be assisting with the recolonization efforts at RIT throughout the process.


Congratulations to Our New Order of Omega Initiates!

On Monday, January 18th, Austen Erickson and Tim Pietras were initiated into the Order of Omega, a a national organization recognizing those fraternity men and women who have attained a high standard of leadership in interfraternity activities. Only the top three percent of greeks are welcomed into the society. Sigma Nu is truly honored to have two such outstanding individuals.

Gamma Alpha Pledge Class

The Lambda Eta Chapter would like to congratulate the newly pinned members of the Gamma Alpha Pledge Class.  This is one of the largest Pledge Classes in Lambda Eta history and the first of the Gamma line.  Best of luck to Josh Arce, Will Buchanan, Ben Dick, Chris Futia, Nick Gala, Andrew Gray, Julian Herwitz, Shawn Kuruganti, Jason Lamb, Matt Lavigueur, Guy Mongelli, Zak Niazi, Alex Quinones-Bangs, Jake Rothenberg, Josh Sarokin-Smith, Jeff Shapanka, Dan Stavins, Adam Stein, Matt Taddei, Adam Wechsler, and Muhammad Zaeen as they embark on the pledge process.

Welcome Back

Welcome back to all the brothers of Sigma Nu and those who have an interest in our brotherhood.  If you fall into the latter category we encourage you to attend our open rush events, or just stop by the floor.

Our final rush event will be Friday September 11th on the Tower’s quad at 4pm.  This will be followed by what we like to call “Chillin’ and Grillin’” and anyone interested is welcome to join us.  Hope to see you Friday.

Habitat for Humanity

On April 17th several of the members of Lambda Eta volunteered their services for Habitat for Humanity.  Besides doing something great for the community those who went had an excellent time, just ask Nick or Phil.


22nd White Rose Formal

On April 11th, the Lambda Eta Chapter hosted the 22nd Annual White Rose Formal.  All those who attended had a great time.  Check out the album in the photos section to see more.


Expectations for Excellence Award

On April 7th, the Lambda Eta Chapter was recognized at the OFSA Expectations for Excellence Achievement Reception for Excellence in Community Building & Leadership.  The text of the award is as follows:

Sigma Nu is recognized for its exemplary contribution to the Community Building & Leadership Standard of the Expectations for Excellence through its diverse and collaborative cosponsorships and commitment to community service and philanthropy.  Sigma Nu has focused on the unique interests of all its members and positioned members in leadership roles on campus in which they can best impact the community.

Spring Break Road Trips

For Spring Break, the Lambda Eta’s separated into 4 different groups, each taking a car on a week-long road trip. We all met as a group once in Lexington, VA at National Headquarters – we even held a Chapter meeting in the Alpha Room!

Coming up…

Habitat for Humanity

On Friday, April 17th, we will be working with the Flour City Habitat for Humanity to help build a house as part of Sigma Nu National’s Founder’s Month of Service.

Frolf This Way

To those of you who attended this event last year in the pouring rain, we will be doing it all over again (without the rain, hopefully). This time, it will be bigger and better than ever.

Frolf This Way, the Chapter’s annual Charity Disc (Frisbee) Golf Tournament, will be occurring on Sunday, May 3rd at 1:00 PM at Ellison Park. Tickets will be a $5 donation, with all proceeds going to benifit Rochester Alternatives for Battered Women.
