Rochester Chapter
Lambda Eta Chapter History
Now that you know a little something about the Sigma Nu Fraternity in general, you may want to know a little something about our Rochester Chapter.
The Lambda Eta chapter of the Sigma Nu fraternity held its first meeting in April of 1986, and was then chartered on April 25, 1987, which has since been known as Founder’s Day. On this day we were given the Greek designation of Lambda Eta, and the chapter number of 237. Because of this, there is no Brother in our chapter with the pin number of ΛH 237.
The Lambda Eta chapter of Sigma Nu had 13 founding fathers. They are the following:
- Andre Pennardt ΛΗ 1
- Eric Lavonas ΛΗ 2
- Joseph Ochterski ΛΗ 3
- James Haught ΛΗ 4
- Eric Reitan ΛΗ 5
- Christopher DelCorso ΛΗ 6
- Mark Diltz ΛΗ 7
- Jeremy Nelson ΛΗ 8
- Panayotis Thanos ΛΗ 9
- David Katzoff ΛΗ 10
- Rick Deane ΛΗ 11
- John V. Coumans ΛΗ 12
- Anthony Polito ΛΗ 13
From the inception of the chapter, the vast majority of Brothers resided on the first floor of Crosby Hall. Then in 2001, the home of Lambda Eta shifted to the fifth floor of Wilder Hall, and has remained here since.
Our Chapter has over thirty brothers involved in great number of groups on campus. Our Brothers are involved in various on campus clubs, sports, and activities, such as Varsity Track&Field, Swimming and Diving, MERT, the School Band, IFC, the Campus Times, and Todd Theatre. In addition, many of the Brothers compete in various Intramurals on campus, some of the more popular being Volleyball and Badminton.
To get in contact with our Chapter via email, get our mailing address, or to receive information on current Chapter activities feel free to contact us!
How good to see that things never change.
Looking back at the original founding brothers (Alpha and Beta pledge classes), you’d find that we were heavily involved in NROTC, the Campus Times, and the predecessor to MERT. Not so much musical talent, though (Eric Reitan excepted).
Glad to see you guys are doing so well, and still on message. Gotta get there sometime.

It’s great to see the brotherhood as diverse and strong as I remember it. Unfortunately, I haven’t been in touch with the chapter over the last several years. I’m so glad it’s still going strong. I hope to make it back there soon. Love and respect.

Been out of touch for a long time. A newer brother reached out to me. Thank you.

It’s good to see another chapter is out to make the world a better place. I stumbled upon this as I was searching Sigma Nu blogs on WordPress; my name’s Tony Magestro (as my username probably already states) and I’m from Lambda Delta #234, Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Keep it up, guys! It’s an honor to call you brothers.
Tony
